Sharp Teeth Films launch announcement

Terracotta Distribution expands beyond Asian films with new label, Sharp Teeth Films

Sharp Teeth Films promises to bring a taste of the unusual to UK audiences via cinema, DVD and VOD releases. Our carefully selected line-up will include a mix of languages and genres, with a focus on stand-out stories that are provocative and fascinating … films with ‘bite’.

Sharp Teeth Films will launch in September with a limited theatrical run of Jim Carey-produced documentary Rubble Kings, highlighting the true story that inspired the 1979 cult classic The Warriors.  Rubble Kings was executive produced by Saboteur, a Goldcrest company.

David Kennedy, from Saboteur, says: “We are thrilled to be working with Joey and his entire team at Sharp Teeth Films on the Rubble Kings release.  They have put together a great plan, and we are excited about bringing Rubble Kings to audiences everywhere.”

Second release, Shopping Tour will be on DVD and VOD from 12 October 2015 – a ‘George Romero-inspired horror satire that playfully takes aim at topical issues including consumerism, xenophobia and immigration panic. Shopping Tour was acquired from Devilworks at Cannes Film Festival 2015.

Label founder Joey Leung comments: “Terracotta was founded on the ethos of target matching great films and stories we’d seen in Asia to audiences in the UK who would love them. Well we’ve done just that, and in our spare time we’ve been watching films from non-Asian countries and realised that these films also aren’t getting UK releases.  So we’re delighted to be starting Sharp Teeth Films to release non-Asian films in the UK (any country, any genre, as long at it has some bite!) and we will still continue to release quality Asian films under Terracotta – a big thanks to everyone at Terracotta for bringing this new label to life!”

Further titles will be announced in the coming weeks.

Terracotta Distribution will continue to release entertaining Asian films in UK cinemas, on DVD and VOD.
